Raina had set her alarm to snooze four other times that morning. The determined alarm clock began sputtering out it's morning warning once more and the young woman moaned with frustration as her hand shot out from under the covers in an attempt to silence the beast. After what felt like an eternity of obnoxious noises, Raina finally manages to flip the off switch instead of just the snooze. "Mornings aren't good for me," She muttered as she allowed her hand to fall limp on her nightstand. Something felt off on her desk, Raina realized, as she pondered what could feel cold under her palm. As she thought with her head still in her pillow, Raina concentrated deeply on trying to figure out what it was without having to look over or move. It felt like metal. Some kind of metal on a chain. Raina frowned deeply and wrinkled her nose into her pillow.
After a few minutes of frustratingly running her fingers over the item she assumed it was a piece of jewelry for some annoying social event her parents were throwing. She often was given a jewelry that she was expected to wear with a matching dress that her mother picked out special. That woman was very particular with the clothing that she believed Raina should wear in public. Finally deciding to urge herself out of bed, Raina pulled back her hand and pushed herself up from her belling into a criss-cross sitting position in the middle of her bed. As Raina glanced over to the mystery item that was placed on her nightstand, she frowned and found herself even more confused than she was previously.
Placed carefully there was a medium sized locket in the shape of a star. It didn't look like anything her mother would ever place there for her, but Raina found it stunningly beautiful. The star locket was on a chain that seemed to be made of the same peculiar looking silver that the locket itself was made of, yet the locked also had the look of a broach. Raina finally decided to take it into her hands carefully to inspect it further. The locket seemed to shudder as it popped open to reveal a very beautiful sparkling blue gem in the center. Something about the gem took Raina's breath away. Everything about the locket gave her this sense of awe.
Raina seemed to fall into the gem and her perception of everything else around her faded to black. If anyone were there to see what occurred next it would have looked something like this: Soft blue light tendrils began to slowly come from within the silver locket until they had gently wrapped around Raina's figure. As the light grew brighter everything about the young woman began to take on a different appearance. First a small star shaped gem, much like the one within the locket, found it's place on her forehead. Her pajamas were replaced by a white leotard with a deep blue skirt and schoolgirl collar. Long winding ribbons curled about her until they fell limp as open sleeves. The last thing to change was the materialization of a long staff before Raina that had a star gem upon the top.
It took a long while for Raina to fully understand that anything had changed, but once she realized that she was wearing something peculiar she jumped out of bed and rushed to her full length mirror. As she glanced her figure up and down she was dumbfounded by what was going on. Even her hair had changed from brown to blue. Looking back down to the locket that she'd not let go from her grasp, Raina squinted as she read aloud, "Star Aqaruis."
