The cafe was well stocked and tended. Cute barista girls bustled about cheerily with well-balanced trays of steaming drinks, taking care of the needs of many happy customers. Red drapes hung around the large windows that gave the patrons of the shop a wonderful view of the capital plaza beyond. The plaza itself was filled to the brim with people. Some of them were headed on their way. Others were just milling about. Two were headed across the plaza, laughing and smiling as they made their way to the coffee shop. The pair looked as similar as a boy and girl could look. The both had perfectly arranged chocolate brown hair. The girl's was curly and it hung just past her shoulders. It was impossible to tell whether the boy's hair was curly or straight because it was cut short and tousled. One look at the boy's face had your gaze rushing straight to the girl's to see if her eyes were the same unnerving shade of acid green under her bangs.
Their names were Evia Taylor Imaeus and Evan Tanner Imaeus. Twins by birth, they were also Sailor Scouts. Star Scout Gemini, to be exact. By some twist of fate, the two of them had wound up becoming the representative of the constellation of the twins. At a glance though, they just looked like normal people. Evia was dressed in skinny jeans and a peasants blouse with bangles jingling at her wrists. At her throat flashed her pendant; a emerald held in place by clasping hands. Evan wore jeans and a pullover sweater in plain black. Normal people headed to the coffee shop on a normal day... Except for the strange eyes and unique aura of course.
Evia and Evan were sharing a cute twin moment. Evan, normal sober and sarcastic, actually managed to look happy for once as his sister cracked jokes, "And the girl with green hair said-" Evia snorted as she brushed her hand over her nose and into her perfectly wavy brown hair, "It just comes naturally!" Evan laughed loudly, the pleasant sound ringing around the plaza and into the open door of the coffee shop. Evan was a man of few laughs and one who usually found stupid jokes ridiculous but Evia could almost always get him to laugh. She was his sunny day in the middle of a storm. Evia elbowed him in the ribs, "I'm glad you found that funny. I was worried that it might have been to 'low brow' for you and your 'intelligence'." Evia laughed. Her laugh was a natural sound and it was obvious immediately that she laughed a lot.
Evan scowled and ushered her into the coffee shop in front of him, "You shut up. Being 'intelligent' is better than being fluffy-brained. Which is what you are." Evia looked up at her twin and directly into his acid green eyes, the exact same shade as hers. Her lower lip came out into her perfectly performed pout, a pout that was developed over years of practice on heart-broken boys, "I am not fluffy-brained, you pessimistic piece of bread." Evan laughed again and shook his head, "Do you even listen to yourself talk Ev?"
The girl behind the counter eyed Evan with appreciation, all six feet of him, "Can I get you two something?" she purred, obviously trying to flirt. Evan looked over to her and his eyes narrowed. Suddenly, he didn't look friendly and approachable anymore. Evia, smooth as butter, stepped in front of her twin, "Yes please," she was charm in a box and the barista barely noticed the change in Evan's mood, "We'll have two blended caramel machiatos, light on the ice, heavy on the caramel." Evia calmly slid a credit card across the counter, "Venti. It'll be debit. And we'll take two of your biggest brownies. They're wonderful." The young woman's smile was dazzling and sincere as she waited for the barista to ring her up and hand her back her card. She whisked Evan over to a table with a brief thank you to the barista.
The table the sat at normally seated three people but they took it anyway because it was the only place in the crowded shop. Evan sat down in his arm chair and stretched out his legs leisurely, "Mmm. Coffee. Wonderful... Look at all these people Ev. How many of them even matter, do you think?" Evia looked at her twin with a closed expression, her previously smiling face somber, "Evan... You know we've already talked about this. Everybody 'matters' in their own way... Please stop talking about it..." The conversation died and they both began to stare off into the distance, waiting for their drinks.

It was wonderful to feel free and clear on a day off of school. Days like the current were so rare in fact that Raina had to wonder if perhaps she was dreaming or forgetting some extremely important event. Interestingly enough she wasn't, though she put herself on edge days like this thinking she was. It was a vicious cycle with Raina. Walking through the plaza on Eydis Island was a pleasant change for the young woman, but what she most enjoyed was being able to look how she wished rather than having to dress up just to go to the corner market back on Ociana Island. It was cruel how much her parents forced a particular image on her.
Luckily today was a break. A time where Raina could wear things such as the ill fitting pale blue over-shirt with a white tanktop and her favorite beat up jeans. Raina enjoyed being able to throw on what she wished in the morning, sneaking out after, and taking her time lounging around on other islands in the chain. The soft sparkle of her silver star on her hip reminded Raina silently that she wouldn't be able to enjoy this forever. With a quick moment of concern, Raina ran her fingers over the scar on her left arm. The star shape made her slightly uneasy. Looking down at her tennis shoes for a moment, Raina gathered herself again.
Taking a moment to breath in a deep breath of fresh air, Raina noticed a particularly wonderful scent. Coffee. With a quick glance it was easy to see the small cafe across the plaza and Raina decided to fight her way through the bustling crowd. Raina smiled sweetly at anyone she felt she was getting in the way for and said excuse me, but her heart fluttered at the concept. It was difficult to speak to people. It made her painfully uncomfortable quite often in public like this. Once trying to be friendly became a bit overwhelming for Raina she could always slip on her mask of social refinement. She'd used it for so long she could hardly notice when she slipped into it.
Finally entering the Cafe, Raina smiled at the comfortable feel of the place. It was, of course, busy like the capital plaza was outside, but Raina didn't so much mind when she entered. There wasn't anyone Raina recognized thankfully, but two people caught her eye for the moment. She shook it off and tried not to think she'd seen something abnormal. Some startling shade of green. Raina ordered a drink and found the only table she could facing away from, but near, the two she had a hard time pushing from her mind. The green shade she saw was most likely just colored contacts or something. Many people wore things like that. Raina still found it particularly eye catching. Stroking the soft scar on her left arm again without thinking Raina swore she saw an odd glint coming from her broach that she fastened onto her belt.

Evan lowered his gaze to the table, feeling ashamed, Maybe I should just lay off for awhile... We were having a good day. He lifted his gaze and his unusual green eyes met Evia's. The look on her face spoke volumes of the twin's strange connection, she could tell what he had been thinking. It didn't happen often but it did happen and Evan hated it when it did. My thoughts are my thoughts, god damnit! Angrily, he turned away from Evia and began to glare off in the distance.
Directly in his line of sight was Raina. Unfortunately for Raina, Evan didn't notice or care and continued to glare with his unnerving acid green gaze. Evia sighed and fiddled with her pendant uncomfortably, "I have no control over it Evan. I'm sorry. I would stop if I could..." Silence... "Fine. Be that way." She frowned and stood up, "I'm getting our drinks..." She mumbled angrily and stalked over to the counters. On it waited their two frozen coffees. The drinks were identical and Evia looked at them sadly. There had once been a point in time when her and Evan had been as identical as those drinks.
Evia pushed the thought aside and picked up the drinks. She turned around, toward Evan. Toward her own growing problems. The pendant that was her broach suddenly flashed hot. Much hotter than was comfortable. "OUCH!" Evia stumbled and cursed, loudly, as the pain from the pendant subsided, "That hurt like a bitch!" She glanced at her hands, amazed that she was still holding the drinks, and noticed that the were covered in coffee that had spilled on her. Luckily, it was more like a coffee smoothie and wasn't hot but it sure as hell wasn't comfortable.
"Damnit damnit damnit..." Evia hurried back to her table and set the coffees on them. Evan looked up at his twin in confusion, "What just happened? You're not usually that clumsy." He smirked in a charming sort of way and still managed to look like a total asshole. Evia glared at him, refusing to answer. She glanced around their little table for napkins and found none. She looked at the table next to them and found none. The closest napkin dispenser was at the table of a really thin, pale girl in casual clothes.
The girl looked vaguely familiar. Evia couldn't put her finger on it but it felt like she knew her from somewhere... Shaking off the strange feeling, Evia walked over to Raina's table and smiled warmly, "Hey. I, um, managed to spill my coffee all over my hands. Can I use your napkin holder-thing?" Unknown to Evia, who couldn't see it, her necklace was glowing brightly.

The chain of peculiar events started with the glowing broach on her belt. That Raina took particular notice of and tried to figure out just what was going on silently, and hopefully without looking as if she were going insane. Raina had never seen anything like it before and the sight was not just alarming but also extremely confusing. The next thing that grasped Raina's attention was the two people with the green eyes that were so different than anything she'd ever seen before. They must have been twins, Raina reasoned, for the looked so similar and the eyes must have been a family trait somehow.
Upon sneaking in another glance, Raina was assaulted with the hot glare of the young man and she quickly looked away with a shiver. His eyes were alarming enough when he wasn't looking towards her, but meeting his cold glare made Raina shake. She was sure it wasn't directed at her really, but something made Raina feel like she was in trouble. The girl with the young man got up from the table when Raina wasn't looking, presumably to get her drinks, so Raina didn't pay much mind until she heard soft cursing a time after. The young woman had seemed to get some form of unseen injury and somehow managed to make a mess of herself with her coffee. Raina stole glaces before looking down to the broach on her hip. The small star locket looked so bright she wondered how someone hadn't noticed by now and asked a multitude of uncomfortable questions.
When the young woman came over to Raina's table she wasn't quite paying attention. Most of her focus was so absorbed in her broach, which was now letting off a peculiar heat, that it was as if she were completely alone. "Oh napkins, yes," Raina replied quickly without actually looking up. Grabbing a fistful of napkins for the woman asking for them, Raina held them out as she looked up. That's when she saw the glowing pendant. "W-Whoa," Raina said softly without realizing that she had actually spoken at all. The pendant gave her this slight feeling of connection that Raina couldn't understand. As Raina looked up into the young woman's bright green eyes she suddenly didn't feel quite as unnerved by them as before. "Your pendant," Raina said softly. Without thinking Raina pulled free her locket and set it gently onto the table.
